| June 15, 2007 Time to add some of my 2D stuff. There probably won't be as much in here compared to the 3D section over time as it is not my main focus, but I love doing it so hopefully every now and then I'll have some stuff to add. I mostly work in Flash, as I'm just incredibly comfortable with it. I also use Photoshop a lot, as I'm very comfortable with that, too. However, the majority of my Photoshop stuff is textures and things for my 3D work, and I doubt I'll ever bother to post just the textures up here unless it's something I'm particularly proud of and would like to make available for other people to use. --- Some images can be clicked on to see the full thing in large-o-vision, while others are tiny by nature and clicking on them is futile. Jaws in Space - The Animated Flash Trailer Jaws in Space was something I created for the Flash class animation project in my first year at NBCC Miramichi. The assignment was to create a 15 second animation. I created a 3 minute animation. I was already pretty familiar with Flash before taking the Flash class, so I was pretty comfortable with the mechanics of animating. The focus of this was to try my hand at doing lip-synching, as I had never really done any before. I think it turned out alright, even if it doesn't make any sense at all. The music is from Metal Gear Solid 3, but that's me doing all the voices. Click each one to see full-size. These three cards were the bane of my existence near the end of my first year at NBCC Miramichi. See, we had to take three famous people or characters and make a Jack, Queen and King out of them in Illustrator. I hate Illustrator. So I decided for some stupid reason that I should do the most complicated things I can find, Metal Gear Solid characters. If you have no idea what the character art for these games look like, you can get a good idea here. Raiden (the Queen) was the absolute worst. In my reference picture, his hair basically fades into the background, so there was never any real way of telling where it should end. In the end, though, I'm really happy with the way Big Boss (King) and Solid Snake (Jack) turned out. Click each one to see full-size. The one on the left was done in Flash. The one on the right was drawn by hand after looking at a Nintendo Power cover that caught my eye. I really messed up the colour of the hair in the hand drawn version. Click to see full-size. Grandma of War! Old Grandma Hardcore is an excellent blog about a hardcore gamer. So excellent, in fact, that I felt compelled to draw a piece of fan-art based on God of War. Drawn in Flash in a few hours on a day when I had nothing else to do. Click to see full-size. This is the title screen for the game I worked on in the second year at NBCC Miramichi. Drawn in Photoshop entirely with a hair brush. Not an actual hair brush. A Photoshop brush that's supposed to make hair. ![]() This is the logo for the Skybear group. We were called Flying Panda Exciting, which sort of confused people since our game was called Skybear, so people never really knew what our game and our group was called. ![]() This is Mortimer. He was born in Photoshop. He has three parents. We had to make a new creature by finding pictures of two animals and blending them together in Photoshop, so I mixed a baby with a pug. Then, for overkill's sake, I mixed the pugbaby with a woman's ample chest. Click to see full-size. The class assignment was to create a game box, so I created one for a game I had been working on in my spare time. Other than the ESRB logo, the Nintendo DS thing in the middle and the majority of the black area on the back of the box, everything was created by me. Here's one of the screenshots from the back of the box. Here's another screenshot from the game, showing off some of the silly names of the stores. Unfortunately, I later realized that Blood Bath & Beyond had already been used on The Simpsons. Some sprites I had made for the game. They each had four-frame walk cycle animations in the four cardinal directions, since the game was being made in RPG Maker. The game was even going to feature a guest appearance by Keith Richards! It's too bad I never finished it. To Page 2, please! |
